WaveAccess experts have developed a website for the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI). This beautiful and simple for visitors website is devoted to the annual FEI Awards ceremony.
The main goal of WaveAccess in this project was to expose a global awards scheme for the whole equestrian world. In order to increase the visitors activity it was necessary to make a nomination process more transparent and easy. WaveAccess specialists have chosen ExpressionEngine CMS as most appropriate website managing system for the set tasks. In order to extend the standard functionality we have added several specific modules to it. To aggregate feeds from the leading social networks such as Facebook, Twitter and Youtube we have used vendor provided APIs. We came with a completely fresh and improved design and at the same time enhanced its functional capabilities. WaveAccess designers put a splash movie onto the main page, social media sites’ feeds, winners’ gallery and other additional features, that make the website more personal, lively and visually appealing. The work of FEI employees, who select nominees has been considerably simplified: due to thought through, logically organized list of nominators with extended search options and email notifications – FEI workers can now efficiently get the necessary data and process it to choose winners. As a result, by allowing the key elements to bring the needed appeal and with the usability heavily improved and of course due to FEI self promotion, the website has received a considerable interest to the award. ‘This site has been a fantastic success, gaining support and nominations from all over the world<…>The functionality and the design were exactly what we were wanting, and within budget.’ said Richard Johnson, Director of Corporate Communications.
About FEI: the FEI is the international governing body of equestrian (horse) sports. The FEI headquarters are in Lausanne, Switzerland. The FEI Awards were launched in 2009 to put a spotlight on the men, women, young people and organizations that are making an outstanding contribution to the progress and excellence of equestrian sport – in or out of the arena. For more information about FEI, please visit http://www.fei.org About WaveAccess company: WaveAccess is a software development company founded in 2000 with headquarters in the USA and offices in Russia and the Ukraine. The goal of our adventurous endeavour run against conventional and approved conduct that compression algorithms can not make any substantial use of powerful vector processing capacity of CUDA-enabled GPUs was to explore the performance speedup that can be achieved by utilizing the multi-core Compute Unified Device Architecture. Among the available data compressors we chose bzip2, which in its turn uses the Burrows–Wheeler transform (which again has been used for memory reduction in human genome indexing), move-to-front transform and Huffman coding, and adapted BWT to CUDA to exploit the advantages of GPGPU computing.
For comparison testing we have only performed Burrows–Wheeler transform over 2 pixel-based images and 2 PDF files of different size on one CPU core and on GPU and so far have not approached the Huffman encoding which in fact doesn't offer any chances of parallelization for GPU-computations due to sequential nature and requirement for synchronization between blocks since they are dependent on each previous block's output. Therefore, theoretically, a significant increase in performance is subject to making full use of both GPU and CPU main assets in terms of their computational faculty. As is evident from the execution time figures below, there is a noticeable 2x to 4x speedup.
The results:BMP, 540 KbFull bzip2 compression on CPU - 218 ms BW Transform on CPU - 171 ms Full bzip2 compression on GPU - 93 ms [ minus 53% ] BW Transform on GPU - 46 ms [ minus 73% ] BMP, 1112 KbFull bzip2 compression on CPU - 467 ms BW Transform on CPU - 343 ms Full bzip2 compression on GPU - 249 ms [ minus 46% ] BW Transform on GPU - 140 ms [ minus 59% ] PDF, 1919 KbFull bzip2 compression on CPU - 1513 ms BW Transform on CPU - 731 ms Full bzip2 compression on GPU - 1107 ms [ minus 26% ] BW Transform on GPU - 311 ms [ minus 57% ] PDF, 3425 KbFull bzip2 compression on CPU - 2168 ms BW Transform on CPU - 793 ms Full bzip2 compression on GPU - 1856 ms [ minus 14% ] BW Transform on GPU - 481 ms [ minus 39% ] Hardware: Intel i7 860 2,8 GHz, 4 Gb RAM with nVidia GeForce GTX 260. Current bzip2 application processes one bzip2-block per time. We use one CPU core versus GPU. At the present time we are developing parallel bzip2 for complete comparison of full-power CPU and GPU.

Windows Azure is a computing environment that allows to take advantage from dynamic scalability, extensibility and high availability of cloud-based infrastructure runtime. What do we do?We specialize in .NET framework technology and have implemented several projects that utilized Windows Azure platform. With the acquired expertise we assist our customers in the following areas: - Prepare websites and databases to make sure that they effectively correspond to the requirements for Azure deployment to facilitate the highest degree of adoption of advantages of the cloud-based computing platform.
- Create .NET applications with business logics that requires high computing resources for multiple clients. In case the application is initially built with support for Azure deployment, we can utilize all its capacity to create a scalable project.
- Migrate existing ASP.NET applications to the cloud platform and enable them to use SQL Azure as a persistent backend storage.
If you already have an application and your hosting servers do not cope with the high load, then Azure migration can improve the service level and increase the simultaneous client-user operation load. We also test the applications after deployment to make sure that the migrated solution utilizes all the Azure-inherent potential and maintain the Azure-hosted applications or whole infrastructures in Windows Azure cloud platform. For what kind of applications do we provide Azure development for?1. For applications with constantly increasing computing and database resources load. 2. For applications with peak demands prior to demo or new version release. What are your benefits?By migrating your current infrastructure into Azure Cloud your company will be able to cut maintenance and upgrade expenses and limitations as well as consolidate dispersed data sources within one cloud platform.

Suffer from inherent complexity of software with a long life span? Oversaturation with reusable components and code pieces as a result of incremental and progressive development process? Your software system is too difficult to comprehend? The kind of complexity that is driven by the fact that the system has evolved over long time and has accumulated accuracy deterioration? Self-inflicted complexity?
Clustering, multi-core capabilities utilization or any other kind of solution that dissemblingly exploits increased hardware power do not solve the problem in its essence but only compensate for a short term, while the disciplined methodologies, lucid analytical approaches, good software engineering habits and extensibility through flexibility instead of complexity modus cogitandi do.
We tackle not only complex problems but also complex software. We will assist you in speed, robustness and maintenance optimization. We will help you redesign bulky software systems with contorted and sloppy architecture to a punctilious and effective systems.
We also perform prototype optimization, tune up database performance, refactor system architecture, identify and eliminate bottlenecks, CPU and peripheral access acceleration.

Samsung gave us as part of their partner developer program their first BADA smartphone (Wave S8500) to perform applications development. We ain't going to make yet another review of this handset - there're plenty of them on internet, instead - we shall take our time and challenge the asserted ocean-like potential of this platform (and Bada's sophisticated approach to C++). It seems likely that Samsung keep their word and turn out to be really open and friendly to developers. There's most definitely potential in BADA if this tendency will be given free reign. So now we have access to all the necessary technical resources, tools, and information for developing with BADA.
Stay in touch.

Methinks, it's a bit ado about nothing special - Azure is just a hosting platform as a matter of fact. But nonetheless we have just went live with a .NET solution which we deployed into the Azure cloud. Silverlight was used to call WCF web services hosted within ASP.NET. WCF and Web services were used to retrieve data from MS Dynamics NAV and Dynamics AX.
